Team Seven Star looks to the Future

8/24/2012

After a very successful 2012 which culminated in the team winning 13 National Titles, there is still a lot to look forward to. While not training for and competing in tournaments, Team Seven Star focuses on performing demonstrations for local events. There are two big ones coming up soon... Our 3 Year Anniversary and the Ansonia Harvest Festival. Team Seven Star will be getting themselves ready to entertain the masses with their main goal of spreading the art of Tang Soo Do and growing our school.
Next year on top of our regular tournament schedule, Team Seven Star will be doing a lot of traveling. First to the great state of Texas for the 2013 National Championships and then we are headed back overseas for the 3rd Biennial Worldwide Tang Soo Do Family World Championships being held in Amsterdam.
There's no rest for our team as we look forward to these great events!!!
   TANG SOO!!!!

Success on Day 1!!

Day 1 of competition at the 17th Annual Tang Soo Do National Championships is now compete. Team Seven Star had a very successful day with nine competitors bringing home 16 trophies. 12 of which were First Place National Championship winning trophies along with 3 Second Place trophies and 1 Third Place. I couldn't be more proud of my students this year. They really brought their 'A' game to each and every competition and now that they have won 12 National Titles in one day, I really couldn't ask for better students. We still have one more day of sparring competition which begins tomorrow at 9:30 but any trophies that are won now will be icing on the cake. Win or lose, my students are truly amazing and I'm very proud to be their instructor. TANG SOO!!!

Nationals: Day 1

Day one of the 2012 National Championship was spent at the West Haven dojang for the annual clinics. Mr. McManus, Keith, Bianca and Butch were able to attend. Butch and Bianca took the White and Orange Belt clinic taught by Master Bergers while Keith participated in an intense Green and Red Belt clinic taught by Master Riley and Master Brandon Ferraro. Mr. McManus jumped into the 1st Dan clinic taught by Master Devita and then rolled right into the 2nd and 3rd Dan clinic taught by Master Kopf. The day was high energy and the Masters had a lot of great advise to share.
We finished off a day of training by heading to Antonio's restaurant in Ansonia. Kyo Sa Nim De La Garza and a few members of our Texas Mi Guk Kwan family met up with Mr. McManus and a few Seven Star students for an awesome dinner then a walk up to Seven Star Martial Arts Academy where we had an impromptu Weapon Hyung demonstration by the young ones of the group.
Now it's time to hit the bed so we could be up early for Day Two and the first competition day of this years National Championships. Tang Soo everyone!! Goodnight...

Well, Nationals is finally here. The tournament kicks off this Thursday with the usual Clinics taught by my instructor, Grandmaster Ferraro and many of the Mi Guk Kwan Kodanja members.
Actual competition will kick off on Friday morning with forms and weapons. Black Belts first as always followed by the Gups in the afternoon. Then we will be back on Saturday morning for all Sparring competition.
Team Seven Star is 100% ready and is eager to get into the competition ring. We have been training for the past month and drilling everyday in class for this upcoming weekend. We are looking forward to seeing our extended Tang Soo Do family and sharing lots of positive energy this weekend.
